Back to Blog Writing!

Well it's been a busy couple of months, some birthdays and celebrations. Have been very busy at work so have had very little time to devote to blog writing, card and cake making. I have brought a Sizzix Big Shot which is proving to be one of my best large craft buys ever. Whatever did I do without one?

It's been a sad time as well as my nephew sadly died on July 27th, he was only 19. So sad. I made cards for Sam,Tracy and Dave. Sadly Sam never got to see his. I contributed to his celebration of life by designing a presentation that was played at his funeral. It was a very moving service and it is hard to think that Sam has gone.

Thinking of You card I made for Dave and Tracy

Have started to prepare for Christmas by making a start on some cards today. Will upload some photos later

Birthday Card

Got some new stamps from Lily of the Valley so used one to make this birthday card. Really pleased with the colour palette and layout. Feeling quite smug as my artwork is getting better using Promarkers - love the way in which you can blend colours to get the right shading etc.

I can't believe it's July already! I'm feeling a bit football crazy , I won't know what to do with myself after the final on Sunday!! I've been good and have gone swimming so putting in the lengths every Monday and Wednesday.

Relaxing...

Now that the wedding cake is done I can relax for short while, still got alot of birthday cards to make but I can do them one by one as each birthday comes around. Need to start going swimming again so that's my challenge for next week

Wedding Cake

Well finished the wedding cake cake yesterday morning and final assembly with models took place about 18.45 last night. Really pleased with the result and it looked really good. The Bride and Groom were happy happy - so good job done!

Busy busy

Well it's been a busy time just lately and no let up just yet. A Wedding and Birthday cake to make for this weekend and loads of celebrations to make cards for. A retirement, 2 x 1st Birthdays, a 60th Birthday and two Weddings. Looking forward to designing and making the cards. I made a special wedding card for my son. He got married on 26th May in Cyprus so have just come back from that and what a great time was had by all. Typical homecoming....came back to rain and even more rain!!

Thank You Card

Well yet another busy week can't beleive it's Friday tomorrow. Have been thinking about designs this week for a Retirement Card and Birthday Card for a really nice chap at work. I think I'm about done. The new Smirk papers will work a treat. Also put together this simple thank you card by just layering patterned and plain card and then punching some bold coloured flowers. Finished off with a few gems.

Birthday Cakes

Finished of the bag of sweets for Mia's 12th birthday today and Hello Kitty was a cake I made for Annbelle's 6th Birthday last Saturday. Both are a vanilla sponge filled with vanilla butter cream and raspberry jam. Yum....

Butterflies

It's been a busy week this week making birthday cakes and cards. I really like the butterfly theme so have adapted a design and created one of my own for girlie birthdays.

Have been trying to source a butterfly punch one with a smooth rounded shape but so far have not seen one I really like so for now have been using a template to cut out the different sized butterflies. The small butterflies are with a mini punch but I'm not that keen on the detail.

I try to keep my cards simple by using shape, colour and layout to emphasise the theme. I don't like gold and silver stickers, peels offs etc and if I'm honest I can't stand those cards that have something in every inch - you know the ones I mean...you see them mostly on that TV channel. But each to their own.

I hope you like these designs. I'll show you the cakes when I have finished the one for today. I must try to make a list of the items I use to make my cards. It seems to be a necessity but another discipline I must get used to. I'll get the hang of it eventually. I very good at keeping my sketch / idea book filled in and I always carry it in my bag you never know when inspiration will strike!! Must go and finish birthday cake number 2

Typical weather for a May Bank Holiday... got caught in the rain twice today! Majik has been bunny watching all afternoon. As I haven't done this before I've been trying to think what I could write about other than cards, cakes and photopgraphy! I got to thinking about my family and realised there're a pretty talented bunch. My sister-in-law is a fantastic artist, my brother is a Rock God - check them both out on the links. My daughter and son are pretty handy in the kitchen - sponge cakes, scones and toad in the hole are their specialties. They are also into SingStar and grab the mike whenever they can. I'll post some videos once I can get the right codec for them. I'm still working on the images but should be able to post soon.

Well this should be interesting as I have never been very good at keeping a diary, not disciplined enough but as I will be showing you all my favourite things that I am passionate about I should keep going for a week at least. I've recently started making cards and I am now wondering what have I been doing all my life! I could do this all day, every day but work is getting is the way at the mo. I'm into photography as well and making and decorating cakes. All of a sudden I seem to be doing all three more and more and there isn't just enough hours in the day. I will post some of my work as soon as I get the hang of this blogging.
